I would then raid his CD collection for the old stuff and I fell in and fell in love with everything they had previously released. I was never a huge Anthrax fan when I was younger,it took one of my ex-boyfriends to get me into them and the day this came out we went to the local record store, got it and drove home cranking this one. Ghoul have proven to be a force to be reckoned with and have yet to put out an album I didn’t love from start to finish.

Catchy riffs throughout this whole album kept me headbanging and put a smile on my face every time I heard “Bringer of War”, “Dungeon Bastards”, “Ghoulunatics” and “Death Campaign”. I’m a huge fan of everything these guys have put out because they know what they’re doing when it comes to writing great Thrash. I actually had a chance to see these guys while touring in support of “Dungeon Bastards” and as always, with Ghoul, it was high energy fun and one hell of a stage show. When it comes to Death/Thrash no one does it better than the four cemetary ghouls from Creepsylvania. Don’t miss it if you haven’t had a chance to hear it yet. Great Album from start to finish, diverse and with an amazing list of guest musicians every track has its own identity. I was stuck on this one for a solid month until I memorized every riff and every lyric. This one is loaded with fan favorites like “The Black March”, “The Dark Mountain”, “By Serpents Beguiled” and “The Enemy Below” and is just punishing and evil throughout. This is the very first body of work from Wolfpack 44 a creation from Ricktor Ravensbruck who was the driving force of Satanic Industrial act the Electric Hellfire Club and Kult ov Azazel guitarist Xaphan who incorporated the very best elements of the Black Metal sound with a very best and darkest parts of Industrial to create some of the best Industrial/Black Metal to come out of the states. Picking just ten albums was hard enough so in no particular order here are my favorite albums of 2016, I hope you enjoy! To all of my people here at MATG and to all of our readers (I love each and every one of you psychopaths!) I would like to wish a happy holiday and happy new year! To my fellow Pagans, may you have a wonderful Yule and a great Solstice! These are the albums that I hold close to my heart for one reason or another these are the albums that I found myself constantly listening too whether I was out and about, raising Hell throughout New England or just sitting around on a rainy day listening to music like I usually find myself doing.

It’s been exhausting back tracking through so many new albums but I managed to put together a list of albums that made the biggest impact on me. 2016 was also a good year for fans of the underground music scene with a ton of great bands from all over the world releasing brand new material. For one I was able to put my passion of writing to good use and talk about the one thing that has always been there for me: metal and for that I’m thankful. There’s been some crazy events in the news, we’ve witnessed all kinds of violence on our televisions, there’s chaos and madness on every channel but for me, and hopefully those of you reading this, despite all of the arguments and nonsense it hasn’t been all that bad of a year. We’ve seen a lot of craziness this year, the United States and our Presidential Election has caused a lot of ruined relationships, we’ve seen the ugly rise of the social justice warrior who have been making just about everything miserable for just about everyone. 2016 has been one Hell of a year and thank the Gods it’s finally winding to a close.
